Egg Carton Bumble Bee Craft | Fun Bugs

Egg Carton Bumble Bee | Fun Bugs

Create Fun Bugs!!

The Witches love bugs. Why not create a FUN BUG – Egg Carton Bumble Bee Craft, an easy egg carton craft!!  They are always looking on the floor for little bugs that they can find in the garden. We usually find a ladybird on the window ledge, or one just at the side of the water table. They also like to hang around the bottle craft we did in another post.

We love using egg carton boxes to do crafts. It is cheap, its fun and you can can create quite a few crafts with these. We have created a few posts using an egg carton like the little chick, one of our favourites!! I have flowers on my desk created with egg cartons, these are wonderful to look at when I am trying to think!! This post contains *Affiliate Links!!

Favourite Bug

I asked the Witches which Bug is your favourite? They named quite a few. I said to to them how about creating 2 Bugs each!! It can be quite a hand full having 2 Witches creating something together, me trying to take photos and then 1 Witch is waiting and decides to get on with it her way. I actually do not mind this at all, its their website and they can create the crafts how they want to!! Haha!! This is all about doing easy crafts with your children!!

The Witches decided to make a Ladybird, Bumble Bee, Spider and a Grasshopper!!

Materials needed for the Whole Bug Craft:

  • egg carton box
  • pipe cleaners US
  • wiggly eyes US
  • black, red, yellow and green paint US
  • cellotape
  • scissors US
  • black felt/marker US

Starting the Egg Carton Bumble Bee Craft!

First of you will need your egg carton box. Cut out 4 egg compartment slots, 1 for this craft:

In this post we will only be showing you how to make the Egg Carton Bumble Bee Craft!!

Egg Carton Bumble Bee Craft

To make the Bumble Bee you will need:

  • yellow paint US
  • wiggly eyes US
  • sellotape
  • yellow pipe cleaner US
  • black pipe cleaner US
  • black felt/marker US
  • sharp end screwdriver/something that can pierce a small hole

Paint one of your egg cartons in yellow paint? US

Leave the paint to dry. Draw black lines using a black felt/marker: US

Glue or stick on the wiggly eyes: US

Now you will need a yellow pipe cleaner to make the wings: US

With the pipe cleaner you will need to make a bow. Leave enough at the bottom, this will be help tie it together on the Bumble Bee.

On the back of the Bumble Bee you will need to make a small hole (I used a sharp end screwdriver). You will be feeding the pipe cleaner through this hole:

Feed the pipe cleaner bow end through the hole, so the bow (wings) are visible from the front:

Fasten down the pipe cleaner inside the egg carton with sellotape:

Next you will need two holes on top of the Bumble Bees head (I used a sharp end screwdriver):

Cut 2 small black pipe cleaners and tie a small knot at the ends: US

Feed the pipe cleaners through the holes to make antenna’s for the Bumble Bee!!

They you have it. A great bug for kids to buzz around all day long!!
